Clinical Instructor of Nursing or Lecturer in Nursing (Faculty Wage)

The School seeks non-tenure-track, part-time clinical instructor and lecturer faculty wage positions. We seek educators with clinical experience in the specialty areas of (but not limited to) pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatric-mental health, community/public health, general medical or surgical specialty. Applicants will be reviewed continuously, and positions will remain open to fill the teaching needs of the school each semester. Post-doctoral Fellow to Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The School seeks emerging nursing scholars with developing programs of research to become post-doctoral fellows, and, upon successful completion of a two-year fellowship, receive a subsequent appointment as a tenure track assistant professor.

This unique position allows post-doctoral fellows to be paired with a faculty mentor who will help them develop an individualized training plan to accomplish their research goals. Post-doctoral fellows are important to advancing the School's strategic priorities in research, teaching, and developing nurse scientists. Candidates must possess at least one degree in nursing, a research doctorate from a research-intensive program, a beginning track record of scholarly dissemination (i.e., publications and grant submissions), and have a scholarly focus that is a strong match with an established scientist at UVA School of Nursing. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

 

Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Faculty Role, General Track

The School seeks general track faculty with experience in the adult-gerontology acute care specialty (AGACNP or ACNP-BC) for a preferred 12-month, full-time faculty appointment to begin as early as July 2024. 

This is a teaching-focused position dedicated to courses specific to our APRN program but with opportunities to teach across additional programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching, there are also opportunities for service, practice, scholarship, and other administrative duties related to student advising.

Obstetrics/Maternal-Child Health Clinical Instructor

The School seeks a general track faculty member with experience in obstetrics/maternal-child health who are interested in a 12-month, full-time or part-time faculty appointment beginning as soon as summer 2024. Faculty members in this position will supervise students in an obstetrics/maternal-child health clinical environment, and manage administrative duties related to student advising and clinical coordination. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and the position will remain open until filled.

Professor of Nursing, Neuroscience Focus

The School seeks a qualified researcher with a neuroscience focus (including research related to Alzheimer’s, autism, or other brain research) eligible for the rank of full professor with tenure, with an anticipated start date as early as January 2024. 

As a teacher and scholar, the successful candidate will shape and advance the understanding of brain function across the lifespan through the integration of neuroscience research into clinical practice, education, and/or health policy. This position will be a leader in contributing to the school’s strategic priorities, which include building the Areas of Excellence in research and our commitments to interdisciplinary collaboration as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. The faculty member will play an important part in collaboratively strengthening and expanding our research infrastructure within the School of Nursing and broader University of Virginia community.  

Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing, Neuroscience Focus

Open Rank Professor of Nursing (Tenure/tenure-track)

The School seeks qualified researchers for open rank (assistant, associate, or professor) tenure track/tenured positions. As a teacher and scholar, the successful candidate will shape and advance the integration of research areas into clinical practice, education, research, and policy.

These positions will be leaders in contributing to the school’s strategic priorities, which include building the school's Areas of Excellence in research and our commitments to interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. The faculty member will take an active leadership role in mentoring faculty, strengthening research infrastructure, and advancing our research enterprise within the school and the larger UVA community.

Service Desk Analyst

The service desk analyst provides consultation and technical support services to faculty, staff, and students to ensure timely problem resolution, system/data access and optimal system performance. This position supports desktop, mobile computing, and client/server technology, providing hands-on support.

Successful candidates have fully developed technical skills and developed or beginning acquisition of advanced skills (notably in project management and ITIL foundations), performs complex activities, and the latitude to apply skills to solve most problems independently and to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. They will also perform long-term and non-routine assignments with minimal supervisory intervention. This position also trains or supports help desk analysts, and interacts with fellow team members to coordinate team response, sets, monitors, and achieves service metrics, and is responsible for the technical configuration of the service desk application. The successful candidate will be PMI certified as a project management professional, or become PMP-certified after hire within two years hire. ITIL certifications are helpful but not required and may be obtained in addition.

Simulation Operations Specialist Intermediate

The Simulation Collaborative at UVA Schools of Nursing and Medicine seek an intermediate simulation operations specialist to support the education of medical students, nursing students, and other members of the healthcare team in the sim lab, the anatomy lab, and the surgical skills training center. Offering both pre- and post-simulation and surgical training support, coordinating technical and administrative tasks, maintaining documentation and resources, conducting simulation sessions, and collaborative with both faculty and staff on scenario development. 

Simulation Operations Specialist

The simulation operations specialist supports the education of medical and nursing students and other members of the healthcare team in the Simulation Collaborative, anatomy lab, and surgical skills training center. Simulation operation specialists will program, test, and run scenarios, along with faculty members and instructors to ensure the Sim Center and its equipment are prepared for learning sessions, operate a variety of simulator technologies, including anatomical models, task trainers, screen-based simulators, and full-body patient simulators; support the lab manager during anatomy labs and surgical training sessions assisting with set up, operation, and cleanup, and occasionally performing trained or scripted roles in simulation encounters as needed, in addition to other job duties as assigned.

Part-time Nursing Student Simulation Lab Staff Member

This part-time (less than 20 hours a week) position offers undergraduate nursing students enrolled in UVA School of Nursing an opportunity to assist in the day-to-day operations of the vibrant Simulation Collaborative by organizing schedules, assisting student learners and faculty members, providing tours for guests, answering phones and emails, inventory and stocking duties, set-up and breakdown of simulation environments, and occasionally the opportunity to play a standardized patient role when needed. The strongest candidates will be organized, have previous experience with simulation equipment, knowledge of medical terminology or experience in a healthcare environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail desired.
